Hippos stuck in the mud at Lake Ngami
This is the situation at Lake Ngami in Botswana. This year’s floods didn’t reach the lake and the result is a mere puddle, surrounded by mud. Hippos and other animals try to reach the little water that is left and get stuck in this deathtrap. A rescue operation is on its way: 10 Wildlife Officers and 4 community volunteers will help move the Hippos from the mud, direct them to a channel where they will be able to access water and food and later relocate them to the Boteti river.
We supported with a donation of 1,000 Euros from our Emergency Rescue Fund, but it’s not enough. If you want to help, please transfer to our account and put ‘Hippos’ as description.
